Terri Seymour at the 41st NAACP Image Awards

I did Terri's makeup today for the 41st NAACP Image Awards which she co-hosted with Jesse Williams (Greys Anatomy) at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Although you can't see from this picture (I took it with my iphone of her on the red carpet) I thought I'd tell you what makeup I used on her, you'll be able to see it when it's aired on Fox on Friday 26th February at 8/7c. As she was wearing a cute black and white print dress I thought I'd stay within that color range but keep it simple - here's how to achieve her look:

Base - Hourglass Fluid Veil http://www.hourglasscosmetics.com/  smoothed lightly all over the face and blended out from the center.
Under eyes - Smashbox Photo Op concealer http://www.smashbox.com/  to brighten the under eye area.
Powder - Estee Lauder Lucidity Loose Powder http://www.esteelauder.com/ dusted lightly all over.
Blusher - Cargo's Catalina Powder Blush http://www.cargocosmetics.com/ on the apples of her cheeks for a warm glow.
Eyes - Dior's 5 Couleur Designer Palette in Smoky Design http://www.dior.com/ with the whitish silver shade all over the lid, the medium silver on the outer corners and after lining with Urban Decay's 24/7 pencil in Oil Slick http://www.urbandecay.com/ on the upper and lower lashes, trace over with the gunmetal shade for extra smoky defintion. Two coats of Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara http://www.bareescentuals.com/  on the lashes completes the eyes.
Lips - Define the lips Hourlass Cosmetics Lipliner in Bare http://www.hourglasscosmetics.com/ and fill in with Smashbox Cosmetics http://www.smashbox.com/  lipgloss in Afterglow.

I took all the makeup to the awards in my Face Stockhom Mitte Case http://www.facestockholm.com/ which is the perfect size for travel or to do a celebrity's makeup on the go!

(Some of the above products were provided to me and some I bought, but these are the actual products used for Terri's look)

Preparing from top to toe for a beautiful Valentines look

On Valentines day you want to feel and look your best from top to toe. I like to have a few hours to get ready before a big date and to pamper myself thoroughly, so put as much time as you can aside and follow these tips:

Take off any makeup you have on with a good cleanser such as Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser http://www.lizearle.com/ which removes even eyemakeup completely. Then put on a mask to smooth your skin for makeup, I like Renee Rouleau Triple Berry Smoothing Peel http://www.reneerouleau.com/ as this really brightens and softens. While the mask is working lie down with Talika's Eye Decompress mask http://www.talika.com/  on to refresh the eye area and temporarily erase fine lines. After 10 minutes head to the shower and rinse off the mask, wash your hair with a shampoo especially formulated to get rid of any oils that will weigh down your hair but is kind to the ends such as Leonor Greyl Balancing Shampoo for oily scalp with dry ends http://www.leonorgreyl.com/ this will leave it bouncy and shiny. Condition the ends only with a conditioner for your hair type. Next scrub your body all over with a scrub like Silky Skin Body Scrub by http://www.pevonia.com/ to make your skin touchable! Rinse throughly and get out and wrap yourself in a fluffy robe, then have a quick spray with Sweet Spot Labs balancing Mist http://www.sweetspotlabs.com/ to keep you feeling fresh!

Whilst you're drying take the time to polish your nails in a romantic color like Mind by http://www.sparitual.com/ which is an up to date matte formula in a champagne shade. If you like to be a little funkier try Snowcone by http://www.orly.com/ which is a gorgeous creamy pale blue colour and a break from the usual pinks and reds. Give them a few minutes to dry and then moisturise your body all over with a gentle, easily absorbed body milk like Emulsion Minerale by http://www.payot.com/

Now for your face I thought I'd show you a makeup that is very soft and romantic:

Start by preparing your skin with a primer that is lightweight and feels refreshing. I love Vincent Longo's Water Canvas Base/Primer http://www.vincentlongo.com/ as it has a cool water feeling and makes my skin feel like satin. Next use a base to even out your complexion, I always use Hourglass Fluid Veil http://www.hourglasscosmetics.com/ on all my clients and myself for it's amazing ability to look natural but give a flawless complexion. Next powder lightly with a superfine powder, try Mineral Essence Magic Finish Powder http://www.mineralessence.com/ it also comes in bronze for darker skins. For your eyes the trick is to keep it light and fresh. Take a liquid shadow, I use Stila  http://www.stilacosmetics.com/ Silk Eyeshadow Wash in Kitten and blend it all over the lids and slightly into the crease. Let it dry (it won't budge when it does) and then line the upper lashline with a dampened fine eyeliner brush dipped in a dark brown shadow such as Emani Minerals http://www.emani.com/ High Performance Brow Filler and Eyeliner (as the name suggests it doubles as a brow shadow). Line the lower lashline with a shimmery eyeliner pencil in a taupe or cream shade, my favorite is the Jumbo Eye Pencil by Sephora in no. 5. Add 2 coats of thickening mascara in brown or black depending on your hair color - a good one is Anastasia Lash Lift http://www.anastasia.net/ .
The main focus of this look is the pink blusher, it needs to stand out to give that girly, coy romantic look so take your time and using a fluffy dome shaped blusher brush concentrate color on the apples of the cheeks, swirling gently until you get that radiant glow. I love Lorac http://www.lorac.com/ Baked Matte Satin Blush in Velvet Rope for it's gorgeous sheen.
Keep the lips simple by applying a tinted balm like Bloom's Lip Tint in Veil http://www.bloomcosmetics.com/ which has the advantage of keeping your lips soft but not gloopy - in other words kissable!
Don't forget about the skin your baring too, you want to keep that romantic glow going all over - sweep Benefit Body So Fine http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/ on your shoulders, decollete, arms and legs (or wherever your have skin showing) or Scott Barnes Body Bling http://www.scottbarnes.com/ if you have tanned or darker skin. Both give a shimmering glow and make your skin look like it is lit from within.

Finish your look by drying your hair with a lightweight gel for body, Fix It Gel by http://www.tedgibsonbeauty.com/ is great and then adding a few loose, soft curls with DeFabulous's Clipless Curling Iron http://www.defabulous.com/ . A quick spray of hairspray to keep it all in place and you can put your slinkiest outfit on and wow your man!

Inner for outer beauty

I'm a big fan of supplements designed to promote healthy skin, hair and nails from the inside. I have recently tried both Glowelle and Sibu Beauty and am about to start on the Glisodin Skin range. I definitely saw improvements with both Glowelle and Sibu Beauty. My hair and nails grew at a rapid rate and my skin seemed firmer and had less fine dryness lines. I'm excited to start the GliSODin Skin as these are said to have slightly different effects such as detoxification (for weight loss too) and helping with damage from sun exposure. When I have finished them I will start on Murad's Firm and Tone Dietary Supplement just in time for Summer!

Here are all the supplements and what the packages say they can achieve:

Glowelle: http://www.glowelle.com/ High in skin beautifying antioxidants, protects and nourishes skin from within and is made from natural ingredients. Glowelle Powder Pomegranate Lychee 30 Day Powder Stick Pack, 30-Count Box

Sibu Beauty: http://www.sibubeauty.com/ These come in soft gel supplement form and as a drink. It's an oil derived from the Sea Buckthorn and is a source of the rare Omega 7. It provides cellular support which is essential for healthy skin and mucous membranes and is certified organic. Revitalize and Renew Liquid Supplement 25.35 Ounces

GliSODin Skin http://www.glisodinskin.com/ There is an Advanced Detoxification Formula powdered drink mix which is said to rejuvenate and energise the system, eliminate harmful toxins to promote clear skin and optimum health and assist in weight loss by promoting healthy liver, colon and renal detoxification. The Advanced Skin Brightening Formula is a soft capsule to be taken daily and is said to promote even skin tone, support all skin types to help reduce irritation and damage caused by sun exposure, promote a radiant complexion and support facial aesthetic procedures.GliSODin Skin Nutrients Advanced Skin Brightening Formula

Murad http://www.murad.com/ The Firm and Tone Dietary Supplement comes in ready prepared packages of tablets and softgels to be taken daily and are purported to encourage the appearance of firmer skin by up to 78% in eight weeks and improve the visual texture of stretch marks by up to 47%. Murad Firm and Tone Dietary Supplement (28 pack)

Dr. Daniel Behroozan's tips on how to get great skin

I recently had the opportunity of meeting with the lovely Dr. Behroozan of http://www.dermsurgery.net/ in Santa Monica to get advice on how to treat different skin types/problems and also to get a prescription for Latisse http://www.latisse.com/  (I'm just starting it so I'll let you know my progress as time goes on).

Here are his suggestions on how to look after and what specific treatments there are for your skin type:

Oily Skin --- Most people have oily skin due to an excess of “sebum” on the skin surface. Procedures like Photodynamic Therapy with V Beam Laser can greatly reduce the production of oil on the skin. Also, topical skin care products containing: retinol, salicylic and glycolic acid can help to dry up excess oil. Skinceuticals Simply Clean Cleanser is a glycolic acid cleanser that is very effective on oily skin types.

Acne ---- Acne is a result of many factors. Most common culprits are hormones, bacteria, and clogged pores. Photodynamic Therapy is a great option for those that want a “holistic” therapy to treat acne without oral medications. Topical creams can also help in the right combinations. Skinceuticals Clarifying Cleanser is a non irritating salicylic acid acne cleanser that can help to unclog pores. Skin Medica’s Retinol Complex is a Vitamin A derived topical similar to Retin-A, that can be used to keep pores unclogged, smooth out the surface texture and improve discoloration caused by acne pimples.

Dryness ---The obvious and best relief for dry and dehydrated skin is moisture. Using Vitamin B infused products like Skin Medica’s Hydrating Complex can greatly improve and hydrate dry skin.

Beginning signs of aging --- We should become familiar with the basics—the A,B,C’s of good skin care (Vitamin A (Skin Medica Retinol Complex) Vitamin B ( Hyluronic Acid, B5, Skin Medica Hydrating Complex) Vitamin C ( Skin Medica C+E Complex). These three basics are a strong army to fight against the early signs of aging: brown spots, fine lines, decrease in skin elasticity.
Non-ablative, fractionated laser procedures, like the Fraxel Laser, are the exciting trend for those who want to maintain and enhance their skin tone and texture. These procedures build new collagen so results are visible and permanent as long as skincare habits are consistent and sun exposure is avoided.
In addition to skin care, Botox and Dysport treatments have become “industry standard” for those fighting the early aging signs mentioned. Botox or Dysport is easy, affordable and effective, which is why it has become the most popular cosmetic procedure in the world.

Deep lines and wrinkles --- Treatment for deeper lines, folds and wrinkles often require a bit more advanced intervention. Facial fillers like, Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane, offer great results but have to be done a few times a year to maintain. More aggressive laser procedures might be recommended such as, fractionated C02, to resurface and lift the skin. These options require some “downtime” from several days to several weeks.

Rosacea --- Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disorder that causes skin to become red, irritated and/or sensitive. Broken capillaries are often visible on the skin around the cheeks, nose, chin and forehead. Sunscreen is the most important product for Rosacea sufferers, as sun exposure can make symptoms worse and should be avoided whenever possible. V Beam Laser treatment is the “gold standard” for treatment and suppression of blood vessels on the skin surface. This treatment has very little downtime, mild redness and swelling for 24-48 hours after treatment, and can be done every 3-4 weeks until desired results are achieved.

What's in my makeup bag?

I often tell you about the products I use on clients but these are the products that are actually in my own makeup bag and that I use on a daily basis - I use a few different things for daytime or evening makeup but some I use for both.

Under eye concealer: Tarte Dark Circle Defense Concealer http://www.tarte.com/ - this makes me look like I've slept for at least 8 hours and I use this day and night.

Blemish Concealer: Estee Lauder Maximum Cover http://www.esteelauder.com/ Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Camouflage Makeup For Face And Body Spf 15 Creamy Ivory this is very light in texture but it covers EVERYTHING! It's also waterproof and long lasting making it ideal for day or night.

Foundation: I use Benefit Hello Flawless Powder Foundation http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/ hello flawless! - never settle
during the day I use this powder to even out my skintone and provide more sun protection whilst still looking natural. For evening I use Hourglass Fluid Veil http://www.hourglasscosmetics.com/ for its smoothing and tightening effect and use Givenchy Parure Powder Foundation for touch ups throughout the night http://www.parfumsgivenchy.com/ it gives a radiant glow that doesn't look at all heavy.

Loose Powder: I always use loose powder after a liquid base as not only does it help to combat shine but also gives an airbrushed effect. I love Jurlique Citrus Silk Finishing Powder http://www.jurlique.com/ Jurlique by Jurlique Citrus Silk Finishing Powder--/0.35OZ for Womenwhich is perfect for my oily skin. I wear this without any makeup sometimes just to eliminate shine and even out my skintone. There are other variations to suit all skin types in the range.

Blusher: I use both a cream and a powder blush depending on the time of day, usually just cream during the day but both layered in the evening. My favorite creme blush is Face Stockholm Creme Blush in Rio http://www.facestockholm.com/ it's a bright pink in the palette but is a beautiful sheer pink on that gives a realistic pink flush, perfect for day. At night I like to top it (after powder) with Cargo Powder Blusher in Catalina http://www.cargocosmetics.com/ a tropical looking pinky coral (it's Terri Seymour's favorite too
Eyes: I use Covergirl Exact Liner in Very Black http://www.covergirl.com/ every day! For both day and evening makeup I always start with a thin line of this along my top lashes to define my eyes. From there I can make it look natural with a line of Cream Eyeliner in Putty by http://www.smashboxcosmetics.com/ Cream Eye Liner - Putty ( Medium Brown )blended out and over the lid or dramatic for evening with a combination of shimmery taupes from Dior 5 Colour Eyeshadow in Earth Reflections http://www.dior.com/ and a black powder shadow to deepen the lash line. I like to take Bourjois Khol and Contour Pencil in Ultra Black http://www.bourjois.com/ with me just in case I need to redefine my eyes - it's so creamy and a rich deep black that goes on easily. I always wear mascara even if I don't have any other makeup on and my current favorite is Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara  in Black Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara Black this really does seem to lift and curl my lashes and makes them look really thick too! http://www.anastasia.net/   For my eyebrows I switch between Eyebrow Manicure by http://www.shuuemura.com/ and Boots No 7 (available at Target and CVS in the U.S.) Beautiful Brows Pencil in black depending on how dark and defined I want my brows to be.

Lips: I always use a stain first Stainiac Hint of a Tint by the Balm http://www.thebalm.com/  in Beauty Queen the Balm Stainiac Tinted Gel Blush, Beauty Queen is my favorite as it makes my lips look naturally red. For day I will then just top with a slick of Beautifull lips http://www.janson-beckett.com/ to add moisture and increase fullness but at night I define them more with Colorescience Pro's http://www.colorscience.com/  lipliner pencil in Bed of Roses and amp up the color with a coat of Lipstick Queen's Medieval Lip Treatment http://www.lipstickqueen.com/ which is a sheeny just bitten red stain.

To finish my makeup off I spray Skindinavia's 10 years Younger Makeup Finish http://www.skindinavia.com/  to set my makeup but also give me a dewy radiance!Skindinavia 10 Years Younger Makeup Finish 6oz
